NOT very long ago, an article appeared pointing out to residents in the Newton-le-Willows area when those residents were pulled up by a spokesperson for St Helens Council, about, they would be breaking the law to park on the footpath outside their homes.
The Editor, very kindly, printed a letter I sent to the same paper pointing out that Garswood, North Ashton and many parts of Billinge were worse for people parking on the footpaths outside their homes. St Helens Council took no notice of my response.
I pointed out that here was a case of 'double standards' by St Helens Council as I am aware it is against the law to park a vehicle on any footpath because I was a member of the police force at one time and I am aware this has never been rescinded. I do know that many people have had to walk on the roads, to get past vehicles parked on footpaths, myself included. I know that nothing has been done to alleviate this wrongdoing, because I go to these areas fairly regularly having relatives and friends in the areas mentioned.
I am bound to ask, why does St Helens Council allow these people to get away with doing wrong and may I say in the areas mentioned and even in the Town Centre?
