LYMM Angling Club's junior section members are among those to have enjoyed the good form of Grimsditch Mill Pool.

Fishing a leg of their summer series, the juniors all landed decent bags of fish.

The catches were made up of skimmers, roach, rudd and perch with the odd decent sized bream providing a bonus.

Pole-fished casters, pinkies, bread punch and small worm accounted for the bulk of the catches.

The winner on the day was Thomas McNamara, who reeled in a bag of fish weighing 17lbs 8drms 0ozs.

Second was Matthew Jump, third was Troy Millwood and fourth was Karl Green. Their respective catches pulled the scales down to 12-8-13, 7-4-13 and 5-2-3 respectively.

Bream of all sizes have been dominating the catches on New Pool.

A few massive roach have also been reported.

Some of these big roach may well have been misidentified silver orfe. This is an easy mistake to make as they are visually very similar.

The carp on Whitley Pool were performing their usual warm weather tease of basking on the surface in full view of everyone at the weekend, totally ignoring all manner and methods of fishing.

When they are up in the water like this it is a question of enjoying the spectacle as there is no chance of catching them.

Crucien carp and roach produced a fish a chuck on Sunday.

In 20 minutes I witnessed chairman Eddie Rothwell land four chunky cruciens ranging from 1-0-0 to 2-4-0. They were all taken on punched meat fished on the pole close to features.

On the carp scene, Belmont Pool has continued to produce fish up to 21lbs and there have been plenty of carp in the mid to upper teens reported.

Member Paul Birdsall enjoyed this form in a night session on Monday, landing 16 fish to 18-0-0.

Founders Pool's form has been steady but anglers are reminded that night fishing places must first be booked with Paul Rylance, who can be contacted on 07801 428610.

Village Pool, which opened to gold overstamp holders on Saturday, has fished to expectations with some fabulous catches reported.

Enjoying this form, Brian Heyes caught an estimated haul of more than 100lbs made up of carp, roach, perch and bream.

Alan Pinnington made the most of a virtually deserted Village Pool on Sunday.

The veteran enjoyed a fish a chuck with all species duly obliging him.

Alan used a combination of baits and rigs on poles and whips fished at varying lengths out but the majority of his fish came from just under his feet.

I have had reports about possible poaching at Woodside Pool, a water currently closed to all members.

As a result this water is now being subjected to bailiff surveillance operations and systems are being employed which are very successful in identifying incidents of poaching and other rule infringements.

I can be contacted on 411774.
