SATURDAY proved to be a day of frustration for Grange's senior sides in the Cheshire Building Society Cricket Alliance.

After posting big totals, the firsts were held to a draw by Saughall and the seconds suffered the same fate at Wirral.

The first team posted 244 runs for six wickets thanks largely to a second wicket stand of 124 between the McCue brothers - Ian with 68 and Phil with 98.

Grange Seconds scored 228-6 with the main contributions being 51 from Dave Robertson and 92 from Carl Evans.

Grange's Sunday team beat Stretton by three wickets in their opening West Lancashire League fixture of the season, repeat their cup victory over the same opposition seven days earlier.

Gareth Jones took three wickets for 55 runs and Grange's best batsmen were Ian Turner, 61, Adam Brogan and Phil McCue, 24.
