Slick Rick's icing on the cake

A WARRINGTON Snooker League player with a growing reputation has enjoyed triple honours this season.

Rick Dickinson must be a contender for the league's player of the year award after winning the Individual Merit, Warrington Snooker League Pairs and helping his Snookers A team to Division One title glory.

The 27-year-old beat Irlam Cons' Dave Rawlinson 3-0 in the Merit final and joined forces with Paul Oldbury to edge out Alford A's Gary Cooper and Mike Clayton 3-2 in the Pairs. The latter came down to a black ball deciding frame.

Darren Hill, captain of the Snookers A team for 14 years, said: "Rick has won team events recently but it is about five years since he has won anything else.

"His form has been awesome this season and he is capable of tons more."

A morale boost

LOWLY Star caused an upset in the Grappenhall Darts League thanks to the last leg heroics of B Bramwood.

He cracked in a 25-darter to give Star a morale-boosting win against Fleece.

But the best individual performance of the game came via Fleece's P Marsland, who won in 18 darts.
