MORE Warrington Soccer League trophy success was confirmed this week but the focus is also on the fight against relegation.

The loser of this weekend's dogfight between Matthiola and Spartak look destined for Division Three football next season.

Matthiola's plight was deepened when they lost 3-0 to Parklands at Fiddlers Ferry.

Daten Thirds could not prevent Ford Reserves completing a league and cup double.

The unbeaten Reserve Division One champions defeated Daten in a sudden death penalty shoot-out to seal The Reg Oliver Trophy in the gathering gloom at St Albans.

The frontrunner Premier Division title was secured two weeks ago by St Michaels and a good job too for them as they have lost all of their remaining fixtures since then.

Their final defeat was at the hands of Eagle Sports and the 3-0 margin was perhaps some measure of revenge for the second-placed side, who on that form should have romped away with the title.

The final table revealed Saints as champions by a single point.

At the bottom of the division, Greenalls continued their improvement with a 2-2 draw against Haydock but this will not prevent their drop into Division One for next season.

Blackbrook's 2-2 draw with Monk Sports secured their survival in Division One.

The second division title remains in the balance with Halton Borough holding a tentative lead over General Chemicals.

General Chemicals could secure the title with a win in either of their remaining fixtures, against Parklands or Grange Safeway during the coming week.

Tonight, Thursday, The Daten Club at Culcheth hosts the Drinkwater Cup final with Premier Division side Haydock going into the showdown as hot favourites to defeat new third division champions Mill Brow. The kick-off is scheduled for 6.30pm.

The last action of the season will feature the Supplementary Cup final at Victoria Park on Tuesday when Rainhill Town face Beeches in a 7.45pm kick-off.
