A CARE worker is travelling hundreds of miles to go on holiday this year - but it's the 26 miles she will cover while she is there that look set to be the most rewarding.
For Pat Powell, aged 48, of Reaper Close in Great Sankey, is taking on the New York Marathon on Sunday, November 7 to raise money for the NSPCC.
She said: "I haven't been to New York before and really wanted to go. Then I thought 'why not see a bit of the city and do the marathon as well?'
"I love running, I have started training and now I can do 10 miles very easily so am slowly building up.
"I love kids so I just want to raise as much money as possible - 26 miles is a long way to go!"
