The high spot of the Warrington Youth Orchestra season takes place at the Parr Hall next Saturday, May 15, with a joint concert with the Wirral Youth Orchestra.

Many members who took part in the Warrington Arts Council Young Musician of the Year competition held in the Barrow Hall theatre at the end of April will be perfomring. This was won by Zara Jealous a former member of the Orchestra.

Warrington Youth Orchestra Members were particularly pleased that Greg Scott from the Classic FM Chart topping violin duo Duel was able to join the group for their March concert. He was very impressed by the standard of playing in the concert and encouraged members to work hard to get the best out of their time with the orchestra.

The rest of the year will also be busy for orchestra members when there will be a concert by the second and third orchestras at Bridgewater High School on Sunday, June 27, at 2pm

Saturday, July 3, sees a trip to York followed by a trip the Philharmonic Hall on July 22, to hear the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra who will be conducted by new President Carl Davis.

In October, the Orchestra will visit the Hilden Musikschule (with whom the orchestra share exchanges - Hilden being Warrington's twin town in Germany). And while the first orchestra is in Germany, the second and third orchestras will be at Bala for an intensive music course.

WYO welcomes new players on any Saturday morning during term time. Go along at 9:15 to Bridgewater High School, Dingleway, Stockton Heath and try it out.
