PRESCOT & Odyssey gained their first win of the season visiting Halsall - West End. P&O skipper Ian Handley was able to select from as near a full strength club squad as he could hope for including the recently arrived overseas player Pravin Tambe.

His run of loosing the toss continued and Halsall chose to bat first.

Tambe soon settled in to form and had the Halsall batsmen in a spin, picking up 5 wickets, Handley and Paul Dagnall sharing the spoils at the other end.

P&O's fielders gave 100 per cent with some excellent catches being taken an impressive over rate saw P&O bowl out Halsall for 146 of 47.5 overs before 4:15pm.

P&O lost just the wickets of Pearl & West before Tambe & Andy Murphy snr. came together to steer P&O home to an emphatic 8 wicket victory in just 26 overs, Tambe compiling an unbeaten 79 and Murphy 31 not out.

The 2nd XI held on for a draw against Mossley Hill's 1st XI who had declared on 194 off 50 overs. Skipper Steve Harrison & Phil Kirk seeing out the last few overs to finish on 112 - 8. The 3rd XI gained their second victory in the Trophy 2000, beating Mossley Hill 3rd's in a low scoring match.
