A TALENTED young video maker from Hartford is branching out into the glittering world of film and television after his production company won a prestigious award.

Richard Daly, a former student of The Grange School and Sir John Deane's College, set up Reel Vision last year, along with fellow student Michael Cottrill, after graduating from Wolverhampton University with a digital media degree.

They currently specialise in wedding videos, but it was a creative short film called The Pass, which traces the journey of a train ticket, that captured the imagination of judges at the Institute of Videography Awards.

Richard, 24, of Heyes Park, said: "We wanted to push the boundaries out a bit. We came up with the idea of pictures telling the story, tightly edited with music and no script or dialogue."

The pair picked up their award from ITV weather presenter Sian Lloyd at a ceremony in Stoneleigh, near Coventry , earlier this year.

Richard added: "It didn't really sink in until I got back home. We never imagined we'd win an award; it was just great to be at the event.

"It's fantastic for us to win something like this so early on. We're currently trying to get corporate and television work so the award is a fantastic leg up."

And now Richard is looking for the talents of local script writers and performers to collaborate on future film projects.

He said: "We want to branch into all different areas, but ultimately our ambition is to go into film. We're trying to work with as many experienced people as possible."
