THERE were so many outstanding performances in this Hornets outing it proved difficult to select man of the match and coach's award winners.

But the half back pairing of Mark Percival and Jack Owens was excellent in an awesome team display.

The Hornets ripped into the Wiganers with ferocious tackling that set the tone for the rest of the match.

Time and again the much bigger home side were thwarted by the Hornets superb defence.

The first try came from Jack Owens after great work from the forwards and the lead could have been increased but for errors close to the line.

The half time score was taken to 16-0 with tries from George McDonnel and Mark Percival.

During the interval it was the Hornets who were expecting a comeback from Orrell, but this was not to be as the Hornets continued where they left off dominating in both defence and attack scoring a further six tries.

George McDonnel added his second, Jack Buck outpacing the cover for one.

Mark Percival took his tally to three with two superb solo efforts, Luke Jones sprinted to the corner after a great pass from Buck and the try of the match was saved till last as Dean Ainsworth's run-around with Owens worked an opening for Percival, Ainsworth supported giving room for George McGrogan to squeeze over the line.

Other good performances from Alex Clare, John Bates, John Winrow and Seamus Loughran crowned a great performance for the Hornets.
