EX-VIKINGS starlet, Andy Saywell's 35-try contribution to Halton Farnworth Hornets' first team was recognised by his team mates, when he was awarded the prestigious players' player award, at their recent presentation evening.
Saywell, now with Rochdale Hornets, also shared the coach's player of the year with strong running second-row, Rob Corrish.
The event, at Farnworth Sports and Social Club, also celebrated the second team's successful season of promotion and NW Counties Bowl winners, with awards to veteran captain, Peter Crosby, (players' player) and Ste Grady, as coach's player of the season.
Second team coach, Paul Phillips was given the president's award for services to the club and up-and-coming fullback, Jamie Edge, won the award for most improved player.
The players presented coaches Chris Kelly, Gary McGrath, Damien Johnson and Paul Phillips with tracksuits and complimentary meal vouchers for the Upton Tavern.
Jimmy and Ginnette Griffiths were also thanked in their absence for services to the club, behind the scenes.
Players are reminded that training starts on Tuesday, June 15, at Fairfield High School, 6.30pm-8pm.
New players are welcome and will be given a chance to shine in the pre-season Champions Challenge competition.
