DISHING out the top posts at Halton Council will be done behind closed doors next week.

The Labour group is expected to meet on Sunday to elect a leader, deputy leader and other key appointments.

Existing leader, Cllr Tony McDermott is expected to remain at the helm. It's his job to select the 10-strong executive board - an extra new post is being created. A reshuffle is expected.

A vacancy has been created following Stan Hill's defeat. If Cllr Pat Tyrrell becomes Mayor, his post will also have to be filled.

As before, the opposition is likely to be offered one seat.

The selection of committee chairs, vice chairs and members will follow.
