THE UK Independence Party and the Liberal Democrats were the winners in the north west European Elections.
The Liberal Democrats doubled their number of seats to two with 16 per cent of the vote, and the UK Independence party claimed its first ever seat with 12 per cent of the vote.
Labour lost one seat and seven per cent of the vote, going down to three seats in total.
The Conservative's share of then vote went down even further by 11 per cent to 24 per cent and they ended up with three seats.
The other parties, including the Greens, the BNP and the Liberal Party, got 21 per cent of the vote.
