THE funeral has taken place of Marjorie Hignett, of Northwich, who died on June 1, aged 86.

Marjorie was born in Barrow, near Chester, to the late Arthur and Jane Buckley, the youngest of a family of three girls and three boys.

She lived in Barrow until she was five when she moved with her family to Lostock, where she was educated.

In 1968 Marjorie married Thomas Hignett at St Helen's Church, Northwich and they settled in Winsford.

She was widowed in 1983. She stayed in Mere before moving to Daneside Court Nursing Home. During the Second World War she was a seamstress in the WRAF, stationed at Ashburton in Devon. Her hobbies were embroidery and crocheting.

Marjorie leaves sister Wyn and nieces Lil, Hillary and Pat.

The Rev Glenys Brown conducted the service at St Chad's Church, Over, which was followed by committal at Crewe Crematorium.

In addition to family floral tributes, donations were received for Macmillan Nurses.
