Halton Hornets 34 Culcheth 4
THE Hornets made it six wins in a row with another devastating performance scoring 11 tries and nine goals in total and only conceding a solitary try.
The Hornets kicked off and set out their stall with magnificent defence, which immediately unsettled Culcheth.
It was Dean Ainsworth who opened the scoring with a great stepping run to the line after Alex Clare set up good field position.
Play was completely dominated by the home side and scrum half Jack Owens scored the next two tries.
Culcheth briefly came back into the game with four repeat sets but despite the promptings of the hooker and stand off could not unlock a resolute Hornets defence.
The Hornets forwards took the ball back up field and good hands from Hulme, Ainsworth, Percival and McDonnel enabled Luke Jones to cross in the corner.
George McDonnel was the next to score to wrap up the first half.
The point's avalanche continued in the second period as Jack Buck took the ball on his own line and went the full length of the pitch to score after Culcheth had pressed hard.
Lewis Hulme celebrated his return to the side with a cheeky run to the line after good work from Seamus Loughran. Luke Jones and Jack Buck both scored to record a brace each before Mark Percival put George McGogan into space down the left flank and he left the cover for dead with electrifying pace.
Culcheth momentarily hit back and were rewarded with a fine try from their hard working stand off.
It was the Hornets, however, who finished the scoring as Mark Percival went over after a well-worked move.
