IF anyone is wondering what became of the campaign for more appropriate traffic calming on Upton Lane, Upton Bridle Path, the Hill View estate and vicinity, I can report current developments.
The petition was taken to all affected homes by 18 people.
No affected roads were omitted.
Of course, not everyone was at home but of those asked, the vast majority signed our petition.
We have about 800 signatures.
Many thanks to those who took the petition around and also to all those who signed.
After meeting with council officials, we intend to present the petition to the appropriate council office.
At this stage, we would take the opportunity to make clear what we are attempting to achieve.
We are campaigning for more appropriate traffic calming, not the complete removal of the ramps.
We realise and support traffic calming on these roads but the majority of people are requesting less severe measures.
All we are campaigning for is a more reasonable solution.
