THE funeral has taken place of Michael John Geoghegan of Harris Road, Lostock Gralam, following his death on May 16, aged 47.
He was born in and lived in the Northwich area all his life.
He was educated at St Wilfrid's RC Primary School and St Nicholas RC High School.
On leaving school Mike began working for Dave Fellows in the excavating business before investing in his own JCB and doing subcontracted work for Dave.
He later bought a new JCB and latterly had worked closely with Malcolm Rogerson, remaining in the building trade, a job he enjoyed very much.
In his spare time Mike's great passion was motor sport of any kind.
He was involved with various motor clubs, the main one being Knutsford and District Motor Club.
Mike enjoyed rallying, entering and winning numerous events over the years.
He was an active member of the KDMC committee and he also acted as Sweeper One for the Plains Rally and marshalled on numerous events.
He leaves wife Maggie, daughter Chloe, mum Mary and sisters Kathy and Anne.
Family, relatives, friends and colleagues attended the service at St Wilfrid's RC Church in Northwich, which was followed by interment at Rudheath Cemetery.
The Rev Canon Healey officiated.
Floral tributes were received and donations for the British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research UK.
Arrangements were by Pope Funeral Services, Davenham.
