A NEW figure will take charge of education and training in Warrington when Liz Davis takes over the reins of executive director at the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) for Cheshire and Warrington.
Ms Davis has spent the past few years as executive director of LSC Greater Manchester, but is no stranger to her new patch as she lives in the town and was chief executive of the former South and East Cheshire Training and Enterprise Council.
She is relishing this new challenge with the Middlewich-based public body, which ploughs more than £120 million a year into post-16 learning.
She said: "There are some interesting times ahead as we respond to the recent 14-19 inspection and take the Government's Skills Strategy forward. I am sure that my experiences over the past few years in Greater Manchester will enable me to bring a fresh perspective to the area.
"Although there will be a few familiar faces, one of my first tasks is to get to know staff and partners, as well as the colleges, schools, training providers and employers across the patch."
But as Liz travels down from Manchester she will be able to wave to Julia former chief executive Julia Dowd on the way past - because Julia is heading in the opposite direction and taking over Liz's former role as director for Greater Manchester.
