Dad's care was first class

WHILST on a coach tour with my elderly parents recently, we stayed at the Holiday Inn in Runcorn.

Unfortunately, my father collapsed at the hotel and was admitted to Halton General Hospital.

The staff at the Holiday Inn were superb, as were the ambulance crew and staff at the minor injuries unit.

The care my father received during his stay on Ward 1 was second to none.

Porters, telephone operators, restaurant staff and the local taxi cab staff all gave us every care and consideration.

Our only criticism was of the Pharmacy at Halton General who took almost five hours to dispense the medication that my father needed on discharge.

Having spoken to many local residents during our extended stay, it appears to be a well known and very common problem which many residents have experienced.

Some residents referred to the service as a joke.

What a shame when you have got everything else just right, that this one department can not get its service up to scratch.

On behalf of my parents, I would like to thank all the people of Runcorn who assisted us, and it is only because of them that my father is back home enjoying his garden and greenhouse once again.
