A FANTASTIC debut album from Los Angeles soul diva Leela James.
This collection is named after Sam Cooke's 1964 protest song, A Change Is Gonna Come and Leela describes her brand of music as 'back porch soul'.
She's a versatile artist with a voice that in some tracks is reminiscent of Millie Jackson while in other songs she sounds like Macy Gray.
I loved the cover version of No Doubt's Don't Speak as well as up-tempo dance track Good Times, but best of all are the ballads When You Love Somebody, Mistreating Me and My Joy which are awesome. Leela enlists the talents of Kanye West, Wyclef Jean and Raphael Saadiq to produce this album.
