WHEN Christina Houghton started working on her curtain stall at Warrington Market aged 14, she did not dream that 26 years later she would be picking up a Warrington Business Award.

But her company Window Dreams was named a winner in the Investing in Warrington category on Friday night.

Christina took home the award in recognition of the success of the soft furnishings company.

Three years ago she added to her stall on Warrington Market by buying the former second hand book shop on Palmyra Square and moving her family in upstairs.

The 40-year-old said: “We were determined to make it a success.

“But by moving into the property, we have invested in the town centre more than any multi-national company could.

“Without the stall on the market, we could not have done this. We are the only stall selling curtains on the market.”

As well as selling curtains, and all things relating to window dressing, Christina and her nine strong staff also offer a home service where they go out to customers homes to help them design their perfect window-look.

They are the only retailers in Warrington to stock the prestigious Swatchbox fabrics and provide dozens of free samples to customers.
