THERE is a school of thought that says we are perpetuating the credit crunch by constantly discussing it.

Every day at the Warrington Guardian we receive reams of press releases linking the crunch to a host of different conditions, most recently, irritable bowel syndrome (recession-related stress is, apparently, manifesting itself as irritable bowel syndrome and digestive issues).

So are we making it worse by going on about it all the time?

Many think we are, and often the media is at the centre of much finger-pointing.

It is the job of a responsible press to report on issues affecting its readership, and the recession is certainly doing that.

Until the downturn is over, we will continue to report on it.
