BYE, bye Alex. And, I would like to say, good riddance.

My only problem with saying farewell to this horrible creature is that, as always, we are saying goodbye to one of the house’s big characters.

However, this year there are going to be enough other personalities to keep it interesting and this woman had to be evicted for her own safety.

Because for every one of her ‘gangster friends’ there will have been one hundred viewers who detested Alex.

She was loud, argumentative and intimidating – perfect Big Brother fodder.

However, there was a slightly sinister side to her that was not nice to watch and never before has a housemate managed to silence a room quite like her.

My only concern would be that Big Brother will deprive us of real drama and action from now on.

What has happened to the prison cells that housemates were threatened with if housemates step out of line.

Do I remember rightly that, for repeat offenders, there was a room of solitary confinement? I’d have paid good money to see Alex shoved in there.

Now that will never happen.

I just hope that a few more fiery characters are brought in to liven things up, but not for a while because they will get stale after a month or so.

Meanwhile the remaining housemates – whose apparent amazement that Big Brother felt Alex had been intimidating amazed me – were getting on with things.

Mario popping Lisa’s spots (lovely image number one), Rebecca nodding off in the karaoke room (lovely image number two) and Dennis trying to keep his modesty covered up (lovely image number three).

And around the country you could hear a collective ‘That won’t be difficult’ when Big Brother asked Dale to ‘clear his mind’ of shattering a piece of wood. Pretty certainly, but brightest bulb in the box he is not.

So far, so good for this year’s Big Brother.

Let’s just hope the all-seeing eye does not spoil all our fun this summer.
