A WARRINGTON motorist has been fined after dumping children's party waste into a commercial bin, with council officers tracking down the offender using CCTV footage.

Warrington Borough Council launched an investigation after wrapping paper and cardboard packaging from a children's party was found inside a commercial waste bin at Heath Gardens in Bruche.

Footage captured a Tesla arriving at the location before the waste was deposited into the bin.

Following enquiries, the council identified the vehicle's owner and issued a financial penalty.

The council said commercial waste bins are not public bins and are paid for by businesses, which cover the cost of collection and lawful disposal of their waste.

Officials warned that unauthorised use of commercial bins places an unfair financial burden on businesses and can amount to environmental crime.

A spokesperson for Warrington Borough Council said: "Commercial bins are not public bins.

Businesses pay for the collection and lawful disposal of their waste, and unauthorised use places an unfair cost burden on them.

Waste crime comes in many forms, and the council will continue to investigate reports and take appropriate enforcement action where evidence identifies those responsible."

The council is urging residents to dispose of waste responsibly and report incidents of fly-tipping or waste crime.

Waste offences can result in fixed penalty notices or further enforcement action depending on the circumstances of the case.
