A DEVELOPER has submitted its third planning application within weeks to build another large housing estate in Warrington.

Peel Land has already submitted proposals to build 200 homes at Turret Hall Farm in Croft and 60 dwellings off Rushgreen Road in Lymm .

Both are controversial, with residents, ward councillors, and parish councils voicing their objection to the schemes.

Now, Peel Land has announced that it has submitted a planning application to Warrington Borough Council for a proposed development off Manchester Road in Hollins Green.

This follows a public consultation in which residents were able to share their views on the three schemes.

Peel Land says that the development will bring 200 new homes to the area, of which 90 are classed as ‘affordable’.

The housebuilder also says that the estate would create 180 jobs during the construction phase.

“Once occupied, the scheme will see an increase in council tax and resident expenditure in the local economy by £4.5million,” a Peel Land spokesman said.

“Alongside the economic impact, the plans will also see a boost in green space and biodiversity with the equivalent of six full-sized football pitches of newly planted trees, alongside open recreational areas for everyone to enjoy.”

Matthew Stafford, associate director at Peel Land, added: “While delivering much-needed new homes to the area, the Hollins Green site will enhance the currently underutilised green spaces in and around the scheme, making it a highly attractive dwelling for its future residents.

“We appreciated the feedback during the consultation process and are now pleased to be moving forward with these plans.”

Peel Land says that the site ‘meets the Government’s criteria for what is considered as grey belt’.

It also says that the proposal is fully in line with the national planning policy framework to bring forward the delivery of new homes within a ‘sustainable development’.

The planning application was submitted to Warrington Borough Council on July 10, with further public consultation to take place through the council as part of the formal planning process ahead of a decision.
