A WARRINGTON mum with incurable cancer is set to undergo potentially life-saving treatment after more than £120,000 has been raised on Go Fund Me.

Nicola Finch, a 39-year-old mum from south Warrington who has been described as the picture of health, was told she has incurable cancer last month.

Cancer of unknown primary (CUP) has extremely limited treatment options in the UK, with the NHS only able to offer Nicola palliative treatment.

Nicola’s family and friends launched the fundraiser to help her travel to Germany for treatment.

It is hoped that the treatment in Germany would really make a different to Nicola’s case – with previous patients experiencing stronger outcomes, more stability, and in some cases a better chance at longer survival.

The Go Fund Me has now raised more than £120,000 and has meant the 39-year-old can begin Trans Arterial Chemoembolisation (TACE) treatment abroad.

“This week Nic is off for her first treatment of TACE on the left lobe of her liver in Germany,” an update on the page says.

“Next week she is then off to California for Histotripsy on the right lobe of her liver.

“We are over the moon that Nic has been accepted for this pioneering treatment and feel so grateful that she is seeing the world’s number one doctor in this treatment.”

After these two treatments, Nicola will then travel to Munich for Dendritic Cell Therapy, a type of immunotherapy where her dendritic cells are trained in a lab to kill off the unwanted cells before being injected back into her.

“This is just the beginning,” the page says.

“Nic is going to need numerous visits to Germany and California for multiple sessions of these treatments, which obviously come with huge costs.

“We need your continued support to try and reach that target and beyond so that we can enable Nic to receive all the treatment that she requires.”

More than £100,000 was raised on the page in just three days, with £80,000 of which was raised in 24 hours.

Responding to this via a message on the fundraising page, Nicola said: “'I wanted to do this as a video but it would just be of me crying.

“I cannot put into words how overwhelmingly thankful I am to every single person who has shared, donated or messaged.

“I'm sorry I can't thank you all individually, but I see them and I can't tell you how much it means.

“The kindness and generosity is unbelievable. People are magnificent.”
