STUDENTS arriving at a Warrington college were greeted by police and a knife arch this morning, Monday.
Those studying at Warrington and Vale Royal College were also met by officers from Cheshire Police and drug detection as part of a crime prevention operation.
Operation Reverse looks to highlight the dangers of knives and drugs, as well as detect any illegal substances or weapons before they enter the Winwick Road site.
It comes following another visit by police at the site last week to raise awareness about road safety.
The force’s Warrington Police team said: “Operation Reverse relates to working in partnership with Warrington secondary schools and colleges to highlight the dangers of the use of drugs and knife crime.
“As part of this preventative work, officers spent their morning doing preventative work at Warrington and Vale Royal College.
“A knife arch was deployed at the student entry to the college to check for any weapons, and we also attended numerous classes with passive drug dogs, doing searches on students and their belongings.
“This all helps to send out a clear message that anyone being in possession of any weapons or drugs will not be tolerated.”
