THE hugely popular Proms in the Square returned as part of Warrington Music Festival over the weekend for the second year.
Over the bank holiday weekend, Warrington was filled with people and music as the annual music festival took place once again.
It wasn’t just on Saturday that people could enjoy live entertainment in the town centre, as Proms in the Square returned on Sunday, May 26 after its successful debut last year.
“Proms in the Square was a hugely popular event when it was held last summer, and we are delighted to be hosting it once again,” said Cllr Tony Higgins, Warrington Borough Council’s cabinet member for Leisure and Community.
“It’s a wonderful celebration of our local talent and the community spirit that we have in Warrington – it brings people together through music and showcases the rich and cultural diversity of our town.
“Proms in the Square is a testament to Warrington’s vibrant cultural scene and our commitment to providing enriching experiences for our residents and visitors alike.”
The event, which was free, started at 2pm and lasted until 9pm, which a variety of acts performing throughout the day.
Twisted Tubes, a brass ensemble known for their dynamic covers of popular classics and modern hits, were among the performers.
Award winning Katumba, a community-based project in Merseyside, also filled Time Square with the sound of Brazilian drums and vibrant colours.
Headlining again were The Untold Orchestra, which is renowned for its blend of classical music with contemporary flare and has performed more than a thousand shows since it was founded in 2019.
