PLANS to reconfigure a Travis Perkins site look set to be approved.

An application proposing the reconfiguration of the site layout including car parking, servicing area and external storage, installation of 2.4 metre perimeter gates and fencing, and installation of three metre gate and fencing to the tool hire compound at the site will come before the development management committee later today, Thursday.

The site is on Farrell Street.

The application is being recommended for approval, subject to conditions, with delegated authority given to the development manager to make non-material changes to planning conditions and reasons as may be necessary prior to the issue of the decision

A report to the committee says the application site consists of a Travis Perkins builders merchant yard accessed via a short lane emanating from Farrell Street.

It adds: “The application seeks to reconfigure the existing internal site layout, servicing area and outdoor rack storage. This will add an additional vehicular entrance south west of the existing allowing for an internal circuit and a HGV servicing zone added.

“Existing parking within the site close to the former access at Helsby Street is proposed to be replaced with outdoor storage with a maximum height of 5.5m.

“The proposed works would see the introduction of a new vehicular entrance into the site and the formalisation of the car parking area which is to have 17 car parking spaces for staff and a dedicated pedestrian route to the site.

“The proposed works to the internal lay out, the boundary wall, access and the associated car park at the Travis Perkins builders merchant site is considered to be acceptable in principle, its impact to residential and visual amenity, highway safety and will not impact upon the adjacent designated local wildlife site.”
