PERMISSION has been granted to increase the capacity of an existing HMO.

Plans had been submitted to Warrington Borough Council’s planning department for number seven Winmarleigh Street in the town centre.

The existing HMO, or house of multiple occupation, is within a terraced property.

It is one of a number in operation across the town, with many HMO applications coming before the council over recent months.

Applicant Simran Dwellings Ltd has had plans approved for a change of use from a six-bed, six-person HMO to an eight-bed, nine-person HMO.

Permission is also granted for new rear boundary fencing and a gate.

Planning documents stated: “We would like to convert an existing converted property containing a six-bed, six-person HMO into an eight-bed, nine-person HMO.

“The existing six-bed HMO license is valid until November 30, 2025.

“Each bedroom is well over the minimum size and all bedrooms have an en suite, apart from bedrooms six and seven, which share a shower room

“There are internal changes only, with no changes to the external features and to the building’s appearance.”

In approving the plans, the council said: “It is considered that the proposal is acceptable when assessed against Warrington’s adopted Local Plan, taking into account material considerations.”
