TRANSFORMATION works are currently under way at a beauty spot in Warrington.

A large section of the field near to the band stand at Walton Hall and Gardens is currently cordoned off.

As well as being used for events, the green area is often a popular spot for people to relax in the sunny weather.

Warrington Borough Council has confirmed that work is currently ongoing to replace end of life legacy gas boilers at the hall.

They will be replaced with more climate friendly heat pumps.

A spokesperson said: “We are replacing end-of-life legacy gas boilers at Walton Hall with greener, ground source heat pump technology.

“The new heat pumps will extract heat from underground and use it to warm the buildings. This renewable, low-carbon technology forms part of our plans to move away from burning gas, which produces climate damaging pollution.”
