AN EIGHTEEN-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with dangerous driving after police made a "tactical stop" of a car being driven the wrong way down the East Lancashire Road.

Police confirmed that a man has been charged with motoring offences following the incident yesterday morning, Monday, May 20.

At around 9.20am, it was reported that a car was driven on the wrong side of the East Lancashire Road during a police pursuit from Haydock towards St Helens.

Officers carried out a tactical stop of the vehicle and there were no reported injuries, police said.

A man and a woman were arrested in connection with the incident.

Merseyside Police has confirmed that Marshall Taylor, of Bank Street, Newton-le-Willows, has since been charged with driving a motor vehicle dangerously, driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence and using a motor vehicle on a road/public place without third party insurance.

Taylor, 18, is due to appear at Wirral Adult Remand Court today (Tuesday, May 21).

Meanwhile, the 18-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and aggravated unauthorised taking of a motor vehicle has been released under investigation.
