A MAN has been charged in connection with an alleged attack in which another man was reportedly stabbed and suffered slash wounds.

Officers have charged a suspect after the reported assault happened at a property in Earlestown in the early hours of Friday, May 10.

Police said that shortly before 3.45am, they received a report that a man had been assaulted at an address on Legh Street.

The man suffered slash wounds to his head and back as well as a stab wound to the right side of his chest and was taken to hospital.

Shan Garry, from Newton-le-Willows, of no fixed address, was charged with wounding with intent, and threats to cause criminal damage, in connection with the incident.

Garry, 34, appeared before Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates' Court on Monday, May 13.

Before magistrates, Garry was remanded back into custody as the case was sent to Liverpool Crown Court. 

The 34-year-old is next due to appear at the higher court on Monday, June 10, when he is expected to issue his pleas to the charges.
