IT has been the sort of weather where a dip in a pool may have been nice.
But did you know there was once an open air Lido on Mill Lane in Stockton Heath.
It was built by the soldiers who came back from the First World War.
It was beautifully built and tiled which, when it became a field, gave good drainage as the tiles were broken up.
Warrington Rugby Union used it as an extra pitch in the 1970s, and it later became Jubilee Field.
Today it is a popular spot with dog walkers and houses Stockton Heath Festival each summer.
A family called Holmes lived at the mill which was by the bridge over the stream on Mill Lane.
Ivy and Jean Holmes were the daughters who lived there in the 1940s and 1950s.
Now the drainage is not as good as it becomes soggy.
