THIS month the country’s grandest train will take its passengers on a special trip from Warrington to the most romantic railway station in Britain.

The 1930s Pullman-style Northern Belle will head for Carnforth in north Lancashire where the classic movie Brief Encounter was filmed.

And passengers will have the opportunity to pucker up under the iconic platform clock where Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard shared an illicit kiss.

“A lot of people like to have a bit of a snog,” said a spokesman for the Northern Belle.

“Some have even been known to do a little jig along the platform as our resident band play. It’s definitely a trip for the romantic.”

All 250 tickets for Friday, May 17, have already been snapped up with some passengers paying almost £600 to board the train over a red carpet and sip the world’s finest champagne.

But another Love Train has already been pencilled in for May next year, and the Northern Belle will return to Warrington in November for a trip to Oxford and stately Blenheim Palace, where Winston Churchill was born.

Fares on the Northern Belle start at £295. For further details, see northernbelle.co.uk
