New Warrington housing development could be named best in north

The Orford-based over 55’s scheme is located on Povey Road and is an affordable housing complex comprised of 45 retirement apartments, developed by the Alderley Group.

Amenities provided to residents within the scheme include cycle and buggy storage, a manager’s office, communal lounge area, courtyard with associated landscaping and seating areas.

After receiving the news that the scheme had been shortlisted for ‘Best Affordable Housing Development’, the firm expressed its ‘delight’ at the nomination.

The Northern Housing Awards 2024 are a highly coveted awards that aims to promote and celebrate innovative affordable housing providers, projects, and services in the north of England, which have positive impacts on the community.

The Alderley Group design team had a significant focus on resident’s quality of life and community building when producing the Povey Road project, while also working to the evolving needs of retirement living residents.

Alderley Group’s chief operating officer, Bobby Corish, said: “This nomination is a testament to the Alderley Group team and those specifically working on our Povey Road project.

“We are delighted this scheme has been provided with special recognition as it is truly set to transform the lives of the retirement residents that will call it home.”

Povey Road is being delivered in partnership with Housing 21, a leading not-for-profit provider of retirement living and extra care properties for older people with modest means.

Housing 21 have a national reach and play an important role in improving the lives of older people.

Alderley Group’s in-house construction division, Complete Construction, are the main contractors for Povey Road, ensuring to deliver high-quality apartments for residents and the future community.

The results of the award are set to be announced on May 23.
