A TAKEAWAY in Glazebury has been hit with a food hygiene rating of zero after an inspection last month.

Neighbours Food Bar, which serves Chinese takeaway food, was given the low rating after an inspection was carried out on March, 21.

The ratings are issued by the Food Standards Agency, and are publicly available online.

Ratings range from five, very good, to zero, requires urgent improvement.

The Food Standards Agency does not disclose the full reasonings behind the ratings, but does reveal general areas requiring improvement.

Hygienic food handling, including the preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage of food was found to require major improvement.

The management of food safety was also found to be inadequate, which includes checks to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, as well as the food safety officers confidence that standards will be maintained in the future.

Finally, the cleanliness and condition of the facilities category also requires major improvement to increase the rating.
