A MOTORIST caught driving the wrong way down a motorway has been fined by the courts.
Ibrar Sohail was behind the wheel heading in the opposite direction than permitted on the carriageway.
The incident occurred on the M6 in Warrington on August 18 last year, with the case only recently coming before the courts.
The 28-year-old drove a white Volkswagen Up at 3.05am heading southbound – but on the northbound carriageway of the M6 over Thelwall Viaduct.
Sohail, of Old Ford End Road in Bedford, was found guilty of a charge of driving a vehicle the wrong way on a motorway.
At Warrington Magistrates’ Court, he was ordered to pay a total of £184.
This is broken down into a fine of £60, statutory surcharge to fund victim services of £24 and costs of £100 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
In addition, his driving record has been endorsed with four penalty points.
