FIRE crews had to pull someone out of a 'fast flowing' section of the River Mersey.

Three fire engines from Stockton Heath, Powey Lane, and Penketh, rushed to the riverside on Kingsway North, Bruche, at 9.17pm on Friday, April 19.

A water rescue boat from Warrington, a technical rescue unit, and an aerial ladder platform from Lymm were also deployed.

Crews located the casualty in a fast flowing section of the river but were able to pull them to safety.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “Crews specially trained in rescues from fast flowing water rescued a member of the public who had entered the River Mersey.

“The individual was passed to the care of ambulance personnel.
