A SUSPECT has been named by the courts after being charged with causing serious injury by careless driving.

It follows a crash on July 1 last year, at around 5.10pm on the A56 Chester Road in Preston Brook.

The collision involved a Vauxhall Zafira and a Mercedes Sprinter van.

A man suffered serious internal injuries as a result.

Now, a suspect has been charged in connection with the incident.

Thomas Cashman, of Saunders Avenue in Prescot, is charged with causing serious injury by careless or inconsiderate driving.

The particulars of the charge allege that the 24-year-old caused serious injury to the complaint by driving a mechanically propelled vehicle, namely a Mercedes Sprinter, on Chester Road in Preston Brook on July 1, without due care and attention.

Cashman was due to make a first appearance in relation to the allegation before Warrington Magistrates’ Court this afternoon, Wednesday.
