A DEER was spotted racing through a housing estate in Great Sankey this morning.

Shocked neighbours watched on as the animal was seen darting along Sycamore Lane in Great Sankey at approximately 6.45am this morning, Wednesday.

Footage released to the Warrington Guardian by resident, Emma Greatbanks, shows the deer racing past residential houses alone.

Speaking on the bizarre incident, Emma said: "I was on my way to work and saw it running down the road towards me.

"I got in touch with the RSPCA who said there's nothing they can do and asked me to post the video on to the community Facebook group to see if anyone knew who else we could contact."

The footage, which was posted on a Great Sankey community page on social media, attracted several comments from concerned residents, with some reporting similar sightings.

One commenter said: "Been sightings all over Warrington last few days, they tend to move around, could be looking for food with the amount of rain we have had."

Meanwhile another resident raised concerns for the animals welfare, adding: "I just hope they don’t get knocked over, that would be tragic, poor things they seem misplaced."

Another commenter gave advice, saying: "I used to volunteer with the wildlife section in the RSCPA and deer are difficult. They're flight animals so if you try to contain it, it will likely cause itself/you/any objects close by a lot of damage.

"Stay well away from the deer and try not to panic it. Hopefully it will find its own way back."

This incident follows various sightings of the creatures in the past few days, with another resident reporting a separate sighting of a deer outside Bewsey and Dallam Community Hub yesterday, Tuesday.
