A 4-YEAR-OLD boy and his dad have died following a tragic house fire in Wigan.

Emergency services responded to reports of a house fire on Warrington Road, in Wigan, at around 2.30am on Sunday, April 14.

Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that a 45-year-old man died from his injuries on the day, with it being reported that he ran back into the burning building to save his young son.

Four other people needed urgent treatment following the blaze, including a young boy who was placed into an induced coma following his injuries.

The four-year-old, who has been named in a family fundraiser as Ethan Mason, has now tragically passed away, police have confirmed.

A fundraiser to pay for funeral costs and to support the family has been set up by Ethan's auntie, Jessica Wilson.

Information on the GoFundMe states: "Yesterday morning at around 1am my sister's house went up in flames.

"Devastatingly we lost my brother in law and my beautiful little nephew has suffered over 86% burns to his body.

"The last thing this man did was to run back into a burning house and save his little boy.

"We are all absolutely heartbroken, but my sister and her other children have lost absolutely everything.

"I have set up this GoFundMe to not only help with funeral costs but to help with clothing and other necessities for her other babies, and to help with the financial burden my sister will have to cope with on top of losing her husband and having her baby in hospital.

"Anything you can donate will be massively appreciated. Thankyou for reading and Love to all. Hold your babies a little bit tighter because you just never know."

The fundraiser, which has already raised more than £36,000, can be found here.

Following initial enquiries into the fire, officers do not believe that there are any suspicious circumstances involved.
