POLICE in Lymm say they dealt with a series of drug offences over the weekend.

Officers from Cheshire Police say they conducted a number of stop searches in the village on Friday evening as part of Operation Rag Bag.

This is a crackdown on concerns raised by residents, and it also involves targeting issues of anti-social behaviour.

One such incident of the latter, according to officers, was stopping youths from playing football in the road by confiscating their ball.

The force’s Lymm Police team said: “As part of Operation Rag Bag, officers from the south beat team were out in Lymm addressing community concerns around anti-social behaviour and drugs.

“Officers were in plain clothes – you may not have seen us, but we see you.

“Six stop searches were conducted, drugs were taken off the streets and three offenders were dealt with for drugs offences.

“In terms of youth anti-social behaviour at The Cross, the road is not a safe place for children to play football.

“If your child is missing their ball, we have it. Contact us if you wish to collect.”
