CERTAIN areas of Warrington are expected to flood today, Tuesday.

The Environment Agency has issued a number of flood warnings and alerts for the Mersey Estuary due to a high tide forecast.

The agency says that flood of property is expected on parts of Chester Road and Arpley Road.

Other areas at risk include Fiddlers Ferry, Eastford Road, Arpley Bridge, Knutsford Road, Howley, Kingsway North and Westy.

All of these are expected to peak from 1.15pm, 1.30pm and 1.45pm.

The Environment Agency say its incident rooms are on standby and that it is closely monitoring the situation.

It is also liaising with emergency services and local authorities.

In the meantime, residents have been urged to avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses.

They are also advised not to attempt to walk or drive through flood water.
