A RARE spring flower has been spotted in Warrington.
Snake’s head fritillaries have become a ‘rare sight’, but the pink and white chequered plants have been spotted in Great Sankey by an eagle-eyed resident.
They are growing close to a pathway that connects Mossdale Close to Station Road.
Although they are now rare due to habitat destruction, according to the BBC, the flower is making a comeback.
They boom in the spring time, specifically from March to May, and thrive in water meadows and damp grassland.
Recently, thousands of snakes’ head fritillaries have flowered at a reserve in Marlborough.
