FIREFIGHTERS rescued a person from the River Mersey.
A large emergency service presence was called to Wharf Street in Warrington in the early hours of this morning.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to reports of a person in need of rescue at around 4.11am.

Fire engines from the Warrington, Birchwood, Powey Lane, Chester and Lymm stations all attended the scene.
They were joined there by the water incident unit from Warrington as well as the hydraulic platform and rope rescue unit from Lymm.
A CFRS spokesperson said: “Firefighters were called to rescue a person in water in Warrington.
“Two firefighters in specialist water rescue equipment got the person to safety and to the care of waiting paramedics.
“Cheshire Police were also on scene.”
North West Ambulance Service and Cheshire Police have been contacted for further information.
