A WARRINGTON school is raising thousands to support a pupil’s family who have been left devastated after a fire destroyed their home.

Broomfields Junior School in Appleton has set up a JustGiving page with a goal to raise £15,000 to support the family, whose children attend the school.

Heartbreaking pictures show how the house fire ripped through the house leaving a burnt and broken roof and mounds of rubble in its place.

The tragic incident is said to have taken place in early March and on the funding page, the Bridge Lane school reported that ‘children have lost all their belongings’ and the family are now in search of a home to rent.

So far donations have poured into the total of £1,700 – but there is still a long way to go before reaching the school’s target.

Touching messages have been left on the funding page, with one generous person who donated saying: “I hope that you get through this speedily and your family recovers from such an awful loss.”

The school has confirmed that any money raised that is not used by the family will be donated to the mental health charity MIND and Warrington Youth Zone.

A spokesman for Broomfeilds Junior School said: “At the beginning of March, a family from Broomfields Junior School suffered a devastating fire in their family home.

“The children have lost all their belongings and are currently looking for a property to rent.

“Any money raised that isn't used by the family will be split between MIND and Warrington Youth Zone, as the family already support these causes.”
