A LIST has been published of all of the upcoming closures scheduled for the M6 in the area over the next month.

National Highways has confirmed its latest closure information for April in relation to sections of the motorway under roadworks.

The section in question is between junction 21a for Croft and 26 for Orrell.

It has already been confirmed that National Highways will spend £9million to restore carriageways from Warrington through Haydock and up to Orrell.

Drivers have frequently raised issues with the condition of the road surface, which falls in a section of motorway already under roadworks.

It was announced in December that work to ‘upgrade’ the stretch of highway to a so-called ‘smart motorway’ would run at least a year behind schedule, with original plans for it to be complete by spring this year.

Here are the latest overnight closures, from 9pm to 6am, relating to the M6 upgrade between junctions 21a and 26, with all dates inclusive.

  • Northbound between junctions 22 and 23 – closed on Tuesday to Thursday, April 2 to 4; and Wednesday and Thursday, April 17 and 18.
  • Northbound between junctions 23 and 26 – closed on Friday, April 5; Monday to Friday, April 8 to 12; and Monday and Tuesday, April 15 and 16.

  • Northbound between junctions 21a and 22 – closed on Friday, April 19; Monday, April 22; and Tuesday, April 23.

Road closures are subject to the weather and traffic conditions not affecting them.
