TWO dancers from Warrington have created a performance which they are taking to different churches this Easter.

Sarah Bateman, 28, grew up in Old Hall and went on to study dance at university in London but returned home to Warrington in during the Pandemic.

It was while on a run that she was inspired to create the performance and asked her friend, Hannah Gerrard, 26, to get involved.

“It’s kind of sparked from when I did my BA and did a performance in a church as part of my dissertation and I’ve kind of wanted to progress it and carry it on,” said Sarah.

Both Sarah and Hannah are Christians and feel a connection to God through dance and are now taking to their performance to different churches in the lead up to Easter.

“It’s really hard to describe what the word love is, and for me it’s really hard to describe what god is, and so through me moving I’m able to feel that connection with him,” said Sarah.

“Me and Hannah are both passionate about our faith and dancing so it’s nice to marry them together.”

On Sunday, they had their first performance of their 20-minute performance at St Mary’s Church in Great Sankey.

They will also be taking their dance piece to other churches in the area, with their next performance taking place on Thursday, March 28 at 7pm at All Saints with St Frideswyde in Crosby.

The dancing duo will also be performing on Good Friday at St Phillips Westbook Church at 11am and St Giles Church in Aintree at 2pm.

After Easter, Sarah and Hannah hope to expand the group and continue to create dance performances and are in the process of applying for funding from the Warrington Arts Festival.
