THIS week we have been looking back through our archives to 1980s Warrington.
We have taken a look back at how Golden Square and Legh Street car park looked then.
The shopping centre was built in the late 1970s and was opened by Queen Elizabeth in 1979.
And while some of those structures remain, the car park, the old Warrington Bus Station and much of the old footprint was demolished in the early 2000s to rebuilt what you see today.
The1980s also saw the heyday of the old Warrington Market at Time Square.
The vibrant market was a popular space in the 1980s, especially its cafe.
However by the early 2010s, its popularity had started to fall and the decision was taken to demolish.
It led to the building of the new market, which fronts Bridge Street, an opened almost four years ago.
